Trump administration set to tighten oversight of student, exchange visas

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SET TO TIGHTEN OVERSIGHT OF STUDENT, EXCHANGE VISASp11article192314whp.png

ㅤ"The Trump administration announced Friday that it will tighten the rules on enforcing visa overstays for foreign students and exchange visitors as part of an effort to further crack down on unlawful immigration.
ㅤU.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said that the agency will change the policy for calculating the length of certain visa overstays, which previously was counted in days starting from when the violation was first reported.
ㅤUnder the new policy, USCIS will instead count each day since a visa holder’s status has lapsed in order to determine how long someone has been ‘unlawfully present’ in the U.S."ㅤ

Engineers oppose effort to expand high-tech visas

ENGINEERS OPPOSE EFFORT TO EXPAND HIGH-TECH VISASp31134410.jpg

ㅤ”‘Employers’ claims of a [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math] labor shortage are unchanged for over 25 years. If the H-1B program is meant to resolve a labor shortage, then it has demonstrably failed. A better explanation is that employers have simply become dependent on a renewable supply of 800,000 young, dependent, precarious, foreign temporary workers who have no leverage in the labor market,’ the labor union said in a letter Wednesday to Senate lawmakers.”

ㅤô¿ô …Practical common sense engineers typically have. It’s why they aren’t scientists.

ㅤ”Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) is expected to introduce a bill in the coming days that would substantially increase the number of visas offered to skilled foreign workers, Bloomberg News reported late Wednesday.
ㅤHatch is sponsoring legislation that would allow the government to issue up to 195,000 H-1B visas, an increase of 110,000, according to Bloomberg. The program allows U.S. companies to employ workers from overseas in specialty positions.”

ㅤô¿ô …Another corporate puppet slithers out from under a rock. Orrin Hatch and Lamar Alexander are rattlesnakes.

Rep. Gutiérrez: Republicans Want to End Legal Immigration to the US

ㅤô¿ô …All nations have adopted isolationist policies at some times in their history, when it was deemed necessary. More and more Americans, of all ethnicities, are becoming convinced that for America, one of those times is now.

ㅤI’m sick and tired of politicians’ doomsday rhetoric !!

ㅤ”Officials at the Department of Homeland have drafted plans to end former President Barack Obama’s policy of awarding an extra work-visa to many H-1B guest workers.

House Freedom Caucus backs bill to end diversity visa lottery

ㅤ”In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in New York City, we call on House leadership to follow President Trump’s call to end the diversity visa lottery program,’ the caucus said in a statement.
