ㅤ”‘There are a lot of things I’m unhappy about with this bill,’ Trump said, arguing ‘nobody read’ the bill. But he argued the defense spending and the need to take care of the military meant he had to sign it.
ㅤ’As a matter of national security, I’ve signed this omnibus budget bill,’ Trump said. ‘There are a lot of things that we shouldn’t have had in this bill, but were in a sense forced to if we want to build our military,’ he added.
ㅤTrump, who has frequently been frustrated in working with Congress on spending bills and has surprised Democrats and Republicans alike with some of his tactics, vowed that he would not sign a similar bill going forward.
ㅤ’I say to Congress, I will never sign another bill like this again,’ he said. ‘I’m not going to do it again. Nobody read it. It’s only hours old. Some people don’t even know what’s in it.’
ㅤThe President called on Congress for a line item veto for all government spending rules and called on the Senate to end its filibuster rule to make it easier to implement the Republican agenda.'”

ㅤ”‘We are aware of the request and are looking at possible dates,’ Charlie Summers, a Pentagon spokesman, told NBC News. He added that the process is in its ‘infancy’ but cited Nov. 11 as a possible date. November 11 is Veterans Day in the States, but is also celebrated as Armistice Day in other countries to remember the day fighting ended in World War I. This year marks the 100th anniversary of that 1918 date.”

ㅤ”The White House is growing increasingly impatient with senior military officials at the Pentagon over the lack of a military strategy for a preventative military strike against North Korea, The New York Times reported Friday.
ㅤNational security adviser H.R. McMaster has reportedly pressed military leaders for a strategy due to his desire to keep all options on the table, but Pentagon officials worry that presenting the White House with a strategy will make a preventative strike more likely.
ㅤThe Times cited unnamed White House officials who said the Pentagon was worried President Trump and his team were moving too quickly towards military action against North Korea.”

ㅤ”Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday that he intends to vote for the 2018 budget resolution, all but assuring that the measure will pass without incident this week.
ㅤMcCain had been holding out support based on an insistence that defense spending increase by billions of dollars. ‘For too long, draconian budget cuts to the military have crippled readiness and put the lives of our service members in danger,’ McCain said in a statement. ‘At the end of the day, we all know that the Senate budget resolution will not impact final appropriations.'”
